NSC SECRETARY STRESSES IMPORTANCE OF BORDER INFRASTRUCTURES MODERNISATION

PanARMENIAN.Net – On July 14, Armenian National Security Council (NSC)
Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan met with Philip Peirce, the regional
coordinator of United Nations Development Program on Support to the
Integrated Border Management Systems in the South Caucasus.

At the meeting, Mr. Piece briefed NSC Secretary on implementation
of current stage of the program for Border Management in the South
Caucasus, expressing satisfaction on progress achieved.

Mr. Baghdasaryan, in turn, stressed the importance of the program
aimed at strengthening cooperation between South Caucasus and EU
member states through providing safe transfer of passengers and cargo,
while preserving border security.

In conclusion, Mr. Baghdasaryan stressed the necessity of modernisation
of border infrastructures and equipment.

According to, Mr. Piers, creation of an international consulting
group in charge of complex management of borders is planned.
