REPUBLICAN PARTY MP SAYS CASES OF EXTORTING MONEY FROM AMNESTIED PERSONS FOILED

All attempts by penitentiary officials to extort money from the persons
set to be released under the amnesty are foiled, Rafik Petrosyan of
the ruling Republican Party faction in parliament has told reporters.
According to media reports, families of some of those people claimed
penitentiary officials have demanded illegal payments from them.
Petrosyan admitted such cases took place but said they will do whatever
necessary to thwart them.
