Armenian Genocide and Jewish Holocaust Memory: Structural Peculiarities

(Noyan Tapan – 05.05.2011) On May 4, the Armenian Genocide Museum and
Institute in the frames of Holocaust victims remembrance week
organized the usual public lecture by the participation of
ethnographer, leading worker of the Institute, doctor of sciences
(history) Harutyun Marutyan. The title of the lecture was `Armenian
Genocide and Jewish Holocaust Memory: Structural Peculiarities’.

During 2009-2010 years in the museum of Holocaust in Washington
Marutyan studied and researched the policy based on the memory: The
comparative study of Armenian and Jewish experiences.

During the lecture he touched upon the issues, such as the periodicity
of the history of the Armenian Genocide and Jewish Holocaust, the term
Holocaust was explained and so on. Marutyan noted that that he
intended to speak about these problems in a special monography.
