‘FAITH, LOVE AND OUR SPIRITUAL AND CULTURAL VALUES SHOULD GUIDE US IN 2011’

Stressed His Holiness Aram I in His NewYear’s message

On New Year’s Day, following the Holy Liturgy, the clergy and laity gathered
at the Main Hall of the Catholicosate to celebrate the New Year with His
Holiness Aram I. H.E. Archbishop Nareg Alemezian greeted His Holiness on
behalf of the clergy and the laity, and thanked him for the achievements of
the Catholicosate on all levels; and for having involved members of the
brotherhood as well as the laity in implementing the programmes of the
Church.

In his message, Catholicos Aram I identified spiritual and cultural values
that should guide the Armenian community in 2011:

1. He spoke of the place of faith in a person’s life, and in the life of a
community. He then referred to the Armenian history and said that the nation
has survived and thrived because of its Christian faith expressed in
community.
2. Holding cultural values of the nation and assessing them in view of new
challenges has been the key to affirmation of identity. It is now the
responsibility of the youth to continue this legacy.

3. The power of love as taught in the Gospels and translated into action is
the only way to fulfill the collective vision of the Armenian people, and to
empower them to seek justice.
