According to the official statistical data published on November 30,
foreign investments in Armenia’s real economy totaled U.S. $472.2
million this January-September – a 9.5% decrease as compared with the
corresponding period last year. Direct investments totaled U.S. $348.7
million – a 9.3% decrease.
Russia remains major investor in Armenia. Russian companied
invested a total of U.S. $191 million in the Armenian economy this
January-September – almost as much as last year. France ranks the
second – U.S. $116 million. However, French investments registered
a 20% decrease as compared with last year.
Dutch investments in the Armenian economy totaled U.S. $63. However,
most of the alleged investments are fictitious portfolio investments.
German investments totaled U.S. $421 million (a 2.1-fold increase),
and British investments U.S. $3.4 million (a 5.7-fold increase).
