The Azerbaijani authorities keep on gambling the humanitarian issue
of prisoners of war and impudently manipulate the citizens of the
Armenian nationality, having appeared in the Azerbaijani captivity,
with the aim of getting doubtful propaganda dividends.
Having been turned into targets for all the Azerbaijani mass media,
these people tell about “the unbearable conditions in the Armenian
army and the comfortable life in Azerbaijan”.
Undoubtedly, such a show of the Azerbaijani secret services couldn’t
have gone without the measures of physical and moral-psychological
pressure.
Cynically manipulating the Armenian POWs, the Azerbaijani authorities
violate the norms of the international humanitarian law, particularly,
the Geneva Conventions which prescribe certain rules of treatment
with such category of people.
The NKR State Commission on prisoners of war (POWs), the missing and
hostages sharply criticizes the politicization of such an extremely
humanitarian issue of POWs and hostages by the official Baku.
