"Assessment of national risks in Armenia" 2-day seminar kicked off
in Yerevan on May 18, with opening remarks of Dafina Gercheva, UN
Resident Coordinator in Armenia.

Representatives of Armenian ministries, international and local
organizations are participating.

With the earthquake, landslide and anthropogenic calamity risks
being high in Armenia, the local ministries and organizations are
specifically concerned over the risk of landslides, which have recently
blocked the republic’s several main roads.

"Armenia has much to learn from other countries to reduce calamity
risks," UNDP representative Armen Chilingaryan said.
