Azerbaijan, Turkey set to jointly manufacture ammunition

An agreement was signed between institutions of Azerbaijani Defence
Industry Ministry and Turkish companies within the framework of SOFEX
2010 Special Forces Operations Exhibition held in Amman.

Azerbaijani Defense Industry Minister Yaver Jamalov and Turkish
Defense Minister Vajdi Konul attended the signing ceremony.

The first deal calls for a joint production of night vision devices
and thermal observation devices at the Alov factory of Optika
Industrial Union of the Azerbaijani Defence Industry Ministry together
with Turkish ASELSAN Company.

The second deal envisages military technical supply between
Radioqurasdirma factory of Ufug Industrial Union of the Azerbaijani
Defence Industry Ministry and the Mechanical and Chemical Industry
Corporation of Turkey for production of ammunitions and engineering
devices.

This agreement was signed by Director General of Ufug Industrial Union
Ramiz Mammadov on the Azerbaijani side and Director General of the
Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation Unal Onsipahioglu on the
Turkish side.

Onsipahioglu noted that Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation
has cooperated with Azerbaijan for years. According to agreement,
production of munitions will be launched in Azerbaijan again by the
help of Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation.
