GDP: ARMENIA BEATS AZERBAIJAN

The CIS Statistical Committee has released a report on the key
economic indices in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)
for January-March, 2010.

Armenia registered a GDP growth rate of 105.5% thereby leaving behind
Azerbaijan (105.4%), Belarus (104%) and Russia (104.5%).

Relatively high GDP growth rates were registered in Kazakhstan
(106.6%), Tajikistan (106.8%) and Uzbekistan (107.6%). No information
on Moldova, Ukraine and Turkmenistan is available.

As regards the industrial production index, Armenia registered 110.4%
and thus remained behind Kazakhstan (111.5%), Tajikistan (116.5%),
and Kyrgyzstan (178.8%). In the last case, the high index is accounted
for by the re-operation of the Kumtor gold mine.

As regards the consumer price index, Armenia registered 108.4%, with a
"better" index registered in Ukraine (111.2%). The lowest inflation
rate (102.6%) was registered in Kyrgyzstan (102.6%).

Armenia registered the best freight traffic index (121.1%).

All the CIS countries (except for Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, with
no information on them available) registered two-digit increase in
exports his January-March. An average increase of 156.8% in exports
was registered in the CIS, with an increase of 109.3% in imports
registered (116.8% in Armenia).
