On Sunday 2 May the British Embassy, and the British Council, in
partnership with the Armenian National Paralympics Committee, will
take to the streets of Yerevan as part of the Sport Relief Mile.

Over the last month thousands of people across the world have taken
part in the Mile, and now Armenian people are invited to participate by
joining Ambassador Charles Lonsdale in running/walking/wheel chairing
a Mile to raise money for the Armenian National Paralympics Committee.

The goal is to raise 500,000 AMD for the Armenian National Paralympics
Committee.

During the weekend of 19th and 21st of March Sport Relief miles were,
thanks to the FCO, for the first time ever held in countries all
around the world. 2,500 runners from 52 Posts took part in a stirring
display of British dynamism and connectedness.

The Sport Relief Mile is an initiative of the British charity Comic
Relief, which raises money to help vulnerable people worldwide.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
