EVENTS DEDICATED TO THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE HELD IN KAZAKHSTAN, KYRGYZSTAN, GEORGIA

YEREVAN, APRIL 26, ARMENPRESS: A number of events dedicated to the
95th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide were held April 24 in a
number of Armenian-populated towns of Kazakhstan.

Armenian Foreign Ministry Press and Information department told
Armenpress that in Alma-Ata St. Karapet Church a liturgy service was
conducted after which its participants put wreaths at the cross-stone
memorial in the local Armenian Culture Center and with one minute
silence commemorated the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

On the second half of the day in Astana and Kostana a showing of
documentary films dedicated to the Armenian Genocide was held.

The Meds Yeghern Remembrance Day was also marked in Kyrgyzstan in spite
of the inner-political tension there. The Armenian consulate office
in Bishkek and "Nairi" public union conducted a memorial-gathering
and put wreath at the Armenian cross-stone.

In big Armenian-populated settlements of Georgia a number of
commemoration events were conducted.

In the Tbilisi Cinema House a mourning gathering took place during
which Armenian ambassador to Georgia Hrach Silvanyan delivered
a speech.

In Belarus on the initiative of the Armenian embassy and Belarus
Armenian organizations a mourning ceremony took place. Armenian Charge
d’affaires in Belarus S. Zakaryan delivered a speech.
