Washington. Isabel Levine-APA. At least 300 of supporters ` mainly
American Turks and about 30 American Azerbaijanis gathered in front of
the Turkish Embassy in Washington DC, on Saturday April 24 eastern
time to counter the Armenian demonstrators and their lies, APA’s
Washington correspondent reports.

Azerbaijani students joined the action as well, crying out slogans in
support to the Turkish Diaspora. Azerbaijani and Turkish flags were
waved all over the action.

The number of Armenians was still more ` about 500 people, but, in
comparison with Turks and Azerbaijanis who were from all different
backgrounds ` the Armenian protesters were mainly teenagers and
students.

The Turkish Ambassador to the US came out to the crowd and invited
inside. He particularly thanked the Azerbaijani community for
supporting the Turkish Diaspora and sharing the same understanding of
the problem.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
