EU COMMISSIONER: TURKEY TO BE FORCED TO SETTLE RELATIONS WITH ARMENIA SO THAT TO JOIN EUROPEAN UNION

Arminfo. Normalization of Turkey’s relations with Armenia will promote
the process of European integration of Turkey and positive reply to
Ankara’s application to join the EU, Commissioner for Enlargement
and European Neighborhood Policy, Mr Stefan Fule said at today’s
press-conference in Yerevan. will visit Armenia on 6 April.

He also added that for Turkey establishment of kind neighborly
relations is an important argument for partnership and joining the EU.

He highly appreciated courage of the president of Armenia and its
authorities for participation in the dialogue with Turkey. Such
efforts need support of the European Union, the Commissioner said and
added that the EU supports the parties in the matter of ratification
of the Armenian-Turkish Protocols which should be ratified in the
‘reasonable terms’ and ‘without preconditions’.

Mr Stefan Fule also said that the EU is ready to assist in settlement
of the trans-border problems after entering the documents into force.
