At the moment about 100 activists, including Political Prisoners
Protection Committee of Armenian National Congress (ANC) are protesting
near the Opera house, where the congress of International Federation
for Human Rights (FIDH) will take place.

A group of young people and human rights activists are wearing
prison garbs.

FIDH and ANC are hopeful that conference attendees will make the
relevant statement on political prisoners in Armenia, ANC Foreign
Relations committee head Vladimir Karapetyan told NEWS.am.

The protest aims at showing foreign delegations the actual state of
human rights in the country.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
