Baku – APA. Within the tour to the Central Asia the Secretary General
of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon has met the Minister for Foreign
Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mamedyarov in Baku, APA reports quoting
the press service the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

The main subject of the meeting was Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagorno
Garabagh conflict. E. Mamedyarov has informed the UN Secretary
General about the latest situation in the negotiations on the conflict
settlement and in detail brought Azerbaijan’s position in this issue
to Ban Ki-moon’s notice.

The minister noted that the Nagorno Garabagh conflict can be solved
only within the norms and principles of the international law and
territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

In turn, Ban Ki-moon expressed his hope for the soonest solution of
the conflict and stressed that conflict solution would positively
impact on whole region.

The Secretary General of the United Nations touched upon the positive
results of the New York international donors’ conference targeted
to long-term aid to help Haiti recover from the recent devastating
earthquake. Ban Ki-moon especially noted Azerbaijan’s boost rendered
in this issue.
