>From 4:00 p.m., March 16, at least four websites – NEWS.am, a1plus.am,
hetq.am and lragir.am — were blocked at the Armenian Parliament,
Chairman of the Heritage parliamentary faction Stepan Safaryan
told NEWS.am. He pointed out that free access to other websites
was available.

At 5:00 p.m., the Armenian National Congress (ANC) held a rally
in Yerevan, which was being covered by the four websites. The rally
marked the 2nd anniversary of the tragic events in Yerevan on March 1,
2008. Also, youtube.com was unavailable in the Armenian Parliament.

The acting head of the press service, RA Parliament, Gohar Petrosyan
said that all the websites of the .am domain were freely available
during the period. A number of sites on foreign domains encountered
technical problems, which were resolved by the Arminco Company.

Hakobyan also insisted that she visited the aforementioned sites
without any problems.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
