Armenians hold demonstration in Washington

11:09 / 02/27/2010On February 26, Armenian young people in Washington,
D.C., USA, held a demonstration in protest at the Armenian pogroms in
Sumgait, Azerbaijan, 22 years ago. The Union of Armenian Youth, youth
wing of the Armenian Apostolic Church and many other young Armenians
gathered in front of the Azerbaijani Embassy and demanded condemnation
of the heinous crime committed in Sumgait. The demonstrators were
carrying banners reading `Sumgait genocide a crime against humanity!’,
`Freedom to Nagorno-Karabakh!’, `Truth about Sumgait!’, `Sumgait
criminals remain unpunished,’ etc¦

The demonstrators demanded the punishment of masterminds behind and
perpetrators of the crimes in Sumgait, Baku, Kirovadad and other
places, as well as an end to the anti-Armenian hysteria in Azerbaijan.
