Kottayam: India’s unity in diversity and diversity in unity is unique
and a model for all nations, Catholicos Aram-I of the Holy See of
Cicilia of the Armenian Apostolic Church said today.
The heridity, culture and diversity of the country deserve attention,
the Catholicos, who is Chairman of World Council of Churches, said,
adding, the Indian legacy was testimony to inter-religious and
inter-community co-operation and harmony.
The Catholicos said he was ready to intervene in settling the conflict
between Orthodox and Jacobite sections of Christian community.
There exists differences of opinion between Orthodox and Jacobite
groups over power and possession of wealth.
Addressing a press meet, the Catholicos said this was the third time
he was visiting the country and the purpose of visit was not for
settling the issue, but following an invitation from the Malankara
Orthodox Syrian Church.
He called on Baselius Marthoma Didymos-I, Catholicos of Malankara
Orthdox Syrian Church, yesterday.
The Catholicos will be awarded the highest medal instituted by the
Orthodox church, "Order of St.Thomas" by Catholicos Marthoma Didymos-I
tomorrow at a public function near here.
Catholicos Aram-I and his entourage will leave on Monday.
