SERZH SARGSYAN: FORMATION OF THE ARMENIAN ARMY WAS A HISTORICAL ACHIEVEMENT

President Serzh Sargsyan issued a congratulatory message on the Army
Day. The message reads, in part:
"Dear compatriots, Dear Generals, Officers and Soldiers,
I warmly congratulate you on the occasion of the Army Day.
The formation and development of the Armenian Army was a historical
achievement, which became a reality before the eyes of our generation.
Because of the loss of statehood and the absence of army we have
paid a great price starting from the middle ages until 1915, until
Sumgayit, Kirovabad and Baku. The Armenian Army is the dignity of
the Armenian nation"
"There can be no balance in our region without efficient armed forces.
Therefore, there can be no peace and stability. The role of our army
is not restricted to the defense of national borders today. The
global integration envisages new tasks in different directions,
which we successfully carry out," the Presidnet said.
According to President Sargsyan, prevention of war is the greatest
victory for any normal country that respects the rights of nations
and states, and the Armenian officers and soldiers are doing it
effectively.
