ARMENIA, UKRAINE AND RUSSIA HARDEST HIT BY GLOBAL CRISIS

Baku. Viktoriya Dementieva – APA. Among the CIS countries, Russia,
Ukraine and Armenia have been most affected by the global economic
crisis, Itar-Tass quoted Vladimir Sokolin, chairman of the CIS
Interstate Statistical Committee, as saying.

"We can distinguish CIS countries in two groups. Azerbaijan,
Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan saw growth, and the remaining
countries have been hit hard by the crisis," he added.

According to him, Uzbekistan saw an 8% year-on-year economic growth,
Azerbaijan – 6.1% Tajikistan – 2.7% and Kyrgyzstan – 2.9% during for
three quarters of 2009.

However, according to data for January-September 2009, the year-on-year
decline in Armenia, Ukraine and Russia was 18.3%, 15.9% and 9.9%
respectively.
