ArmInfo. ‘The year of 2009 was very hard for the printed mass media.

One can say that the pressure imposed upon the newspapers as well
as the cases of assault against journalists have become an ordinary
phenomenon in Armenia’, – editor-in-chief of ‘Graparak’, Armine
Ohanyan, said at today’s press-conference at ‘Urbat’ club.

She mentioned the plans to make alterations to the law "On mass media"
among the negative cases of the year. ‘It will lead to numerous law
actions against mass media. We would not worry about such a prospect
if we trust in the judicial sphere of the country’, – Ohanyan said
and added that at present several legal actions have been brought
against ‘Graparak’ newspaper. The acting editor-in-chief of ‘Haykakan
Zhamanak’ newspaper, Hayk Gevorkyan, said that alterations to the law
"On mass media" have only a goal – to close the newspapers unwanted
for the authorities. ‘If 4 legal actions were brought against the
newspaper over a month, in case of such development, it will simply
stop functioning’, – he said.
