LEBANESE ARMENIAN ARTIST RECEIVES THE SAINT MESROB MASHDOTZ INSIGNIA

On Friday 11 December 2009, His Holiness Aram I honoured Mr. Krikor Norikian
with the Insignia of St. Mesrob Mashdotz during a ceremony held at the
Gulbenkian Hall of Cilicia Museum.

Armenian and Lebanese speakers presented the artist and his paintings.
Speakers emphasized the way in which the style and choice of colours of
Krikor Norikian express the anger, the dreams and hopes of the Armenian
people.

Before giving the award His Holiness Aram I said: "Krikor Norikian and his
cohorts opened a new page in Armenian Art History. The paintings of the
artist, with their shapes and colours, reflect the message of hope of the
Armenian church and the joys and sorrows of the Armenian people.
