/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The 9th of December marks the day in 1948 when the
United Nations adopted the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment
of the Crime of Genocide, an appreciation of the necessity that all
states work together to prevent a recurrence of the Holocaust and
other mass atrocities that preceded the Convention.

"Too often, the international community has failed to remain vigilant
to the various manifestations of genocidal situations, such as
"ethnic-cleansing" and targeting of civilian groups from which armed
elements draw their membership," United Nations Organizations says
in a release.

States are called upon to implement the preventive aspects of the
Convention and to support efforts to prevent massive and serious
human rights violations.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
