/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Armenian delegation led by Prime Minister Tigran
Sargsyan is taking part in ArmTech 2009 forum which kicked off today
in St. Jose, United States.

During the opening ceremony, Head of Armenian executive said,
"High technologies continue to remain an essential component of
economic development. Being leader in IT sphere, we want to advance
our achievement in biotechnology, science, nuclear physics, green
energy and information. Innovation, effort and active participation
constitute the groundwork of success." Touching on the outcomes
of last year’s ArmTech forum, Premier pointed out efforts towards
resolving the problems raised, as well as Government’s anti-crisis
program. Mr. Sargsyan stressed the importance of infra-structure
pojects, particularly, North-South program, construction of new
nuclear power plant, pensionary reforms and activities of National
Competitiveness Centre. "In accordance with Armenia’s legislation,
we have established an all-Armenian bank and attracted a specialized
company for assisting in the development of business-programs.

All-Armenian bank will start operating as an investment fund whose
activities will be aimed at concentrating means for implementing
programs and raising competitiveness in Armenia. Our vision, however,
is more than ambitious – making the bank an institution serving
Armenian communities worldwide. All-Armenian bank will thus become
the financial reflection of Armenian world," RA Government’s press
service reports.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan has taken part in
the activities of All-Armenian Trade Council of St. Francisco. After
meeting, Armenian Premier left for Santa Clara to meet with Intel
company’s Vice President John Davis. Introducing the four pillars
of Intel development programs and visions, Mr. Davis stressed the
importance of cooperation in educational programs, particularly,
preparation of specialists teaching computer literacy, extended school
computerization and accessibility to global network. Parties also
discussed activities of National IT Development Council, as well as
government-initiated legislative changes promoting rapid and permanent
development of sphere.

To ensure on-going implementation of educational programs and
agreements achieved, Premier Sargsyan recommended Economy Minister
Nerses Yeritsyan to further talks and activities with the company.

In a meeting with Cisco company leader John Chambers, Armenian
delegation considered a wide range of issues of mutual interest,
such as ensuring access to global network, developing Gyumri as a
technological town, enhancing Armenia’s postal system etc. Parties
noted that new cooperation spheres could create new opportunities,
escalating mutual cooperation to a higher level. Premier also took part
in the ceremony of awarding Craig Barret with RA President’s prize for
his considerable investments in IT sphere development. In the evening,
Premier Sargsyan received representatives of San Francisco Armenian
community and answered their questions.

session today in Sheraton Metakhi Palace hotel, Tbilisi. Assembly’s
extended session will kick off on November 9, bringing together
assembly delegates from Baltic states and experts. Adoption of final
document and joint press-conference is scheduled for November 10,
Novosti-Gruzia reports.

GUAM is a regional organization established in October 1997 by Georgia,
Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova (in 1999-2005, Uzbekistan was also
member of the organization).

Beatles John Lennon and George Harrison – visited Yerevan to take
part in a series of special events marking the Grand Opening of the
Cafesjian Center for the Arts on November 8. Lennon and Boyd will
share the stage for the first time ever, and lend intimate insight into
their husbands’ extraordinary lives and music. A book signing of John
by Cynthia Lennon and Wonderful Tonight by Pattie Boyd – who was also
married to the blues musician Eric Clapton – followed the interview.

A photo exhibition titled "Pattie Boyd: yesterday and today" will
be open till January 31. It features 50 unique photos presenting The
Beatles’ life.

Norway’s Magnus Karlsen in the 4th tour of Mikhail Tal Memorial 2009.

Presently, Aronian shares the 2nd and 3rd positions with India’s
Wishvanathan Anand with 2.5 points. Russia’s Vladimir Kramnik is
leading with 3 points.

The 5th round is due on November 10.

his working visit to San Jose, U.S., which hosts ArmTech congress,
the RA government’s information center reported.

"ArmTech should develop. The meetings held on the Congress sidelines
helped prioritize measures to be taken for implementation of new IT
programs. Moreover, Armenia should have its own Blue Ocean Strategy ,"
PM Sargsyan said.

of the fall of the Berlin wall are being put in place in the German
capital. The giant party, which has been dubbed the ‘Festival of
Freedom’, will take place at the Brandenburg Gate on Monday. World
leaders, including Gordon Brown, Nicolas Sarkozy, Dmitri Medvedev and
Hillary Clinton will all join Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel for
the big event. Around 100,000 spectators are also expected to watch
the big show and many of Berlin’s hotels have already reportedly been
booked out. One of the star attractions is a giant 1000 domino chain
that has been built to follow the path of the former barrier. Like the
real wall 20 years ago it too will fall, culminating with a spectacular
firework display to symbolize the re-unification of Germany and the
end of the Cold War, Euronews reported.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Omar al-Bashir told Abdullah Gul, his Turkish
counterpart, on Sunday that he would not attend a meeting of the
Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Istanbul on Monday,
Al Jazeera reported.

The cancellation came after the European Union put pressure on host
Turkey to either stop al-Bashir from attending the economic summit or
arrest him upon arrival. Sudan’s leader is wanted by the International
Criminal Court (ICC) for trial on charges of war crimes and crimes
against humanity in the western region of Darfur.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish prime minister, questioned the
charges against al-Bashir and said that "no Muslim could perpetrate
a genocide", according to Turkey’s Anatolia news agency. "If there
was such a thing [genocide], we could talk about it face to face with
President Bashir."
