/PanARMENIAN.Net/ "Only with Nicol Pashinyan’s participation, the
latter is not yet registered as a candidate, the upcoming National
Assembly elections at the polling station N 10 in Yerevan can involve
a real pre-election contest," Tigran Karapetyan , the chairman of
the People’s Party told a joint press conference in Yerevan, attended
with the Republican Party of Armenia’s faction MP Lernik Aleksanyan.

According to Tigran Karapetyan, the People’s Party will not support
anyone in the upcoming National Assembly elections since the party
does not see anybody able to introduce new ideas in Armenia’s
political field.

According to Tigran Karapetyan, elections are rigged at all levels
and the ruling elite, directly or indirectly contribute to it,
without taking measures to remedy the situation.

The representative of RPA Lernik Alexanyan said, that elections in
Armenia are normal in general, despite some fraud, not affecting the
outcome significantly.

The Republican Party of Armenia has not yet decided which candidate
to support at the upcoming National Assembly elections at the polling
station N 10 in Yerevan.

DEBATE ABOUT GOOD AND BAD OLIGARCHS: NOT ONLY RICH MEN IN REPUBLICAN PARTY OF ARMENIA

Those oligarchs were chosen; we have nothing to do in that parliament,
said Leader of People’s Party Tigran Karapetyan during a debate
with ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Lernik Alexanyan
today. He blamed RPA for collecting all the rich people under its roof
and then added that RPA, as well as the Armenian National Assembly,
is a parliament of feudal lords.

"There are also good oligarchs," said Alexanyan, in retort, adding
that there are rich people, for example, in all the parties. In
protecting his party, Alexanyan stated not only rich people are
included in RPA, there are also poor people, and when the journalists
asked surprisingly, "Who is poor?", Alexanyan responded by saying,
"Me, for example." His answer, understandably, brought about laughter.

The debate over "good and bad oligarchs" arose when the elections which
are to take place in several electoral districts were touched upon.

Karapetyan said a real competition could take place at least at N10
electoral district, if Nikol Pashinyan was registered as a candidate,
but, in general, there will be violations and bribery in this election,
too. The governing party representative didn’t agree that election
bribery takes place in Armenia. In any case, that violation, in
Alexanyan’s opinion, doesn’t affect election results.

By the way, Alexanyan said that the Republican Party of Armenia still
hasn’t discussed which candidate it will support at which electoral
district.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Colorado Governor Bill Ritter expressed his
appreciation and thanks for those individuals, activists and
organizations that "fight for justice and truth", reported the Armenian
Assembly of America (AAA).

In the meantime, governor also highly assessed the activities of
Roz Duman, founder and Director of Colorado Coalition for Genocide
Awareness & Action (CCGAA). "I congratulate Roz and the Colorado
Coalition for Genocide Awareness and Action for the kind of leadership
and commitment that is essential to ensuring there are no future
genocides. Roz, and organizations like the Armenian Assembly of
America, continue to fight for justice and truth, and I thank them
for their great accomplishments," Bill Ritter said.

"The CCGAA will continue to work with the local Armenian community
to help raise awareness about the incontestable fact of the Armenian
Genocide," stated Duman.

Assembly Executive Director Bryan Ardouny announced in turn that,
"The Assembly has a strong tradition of reaching out and working with
individuals and organizations that share the same goals and values
regarding genocide education and prevention,". "We echo the Governor’s
praise for Roz Duman and the CCGAA’s work in raising greater awareness
about this critically important human rights issue," he added.

ARMENIA’S ‘LEGENDARY HOSPITALITY’: WILL ARMENIA BECOME A TOURISM CENTRE?

Tert

Armenia

Head of Tourism Department at the Ministry of Economy Mekhak Apresyan
agrees with Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s idea that it is possible
to make Armenia a tourism centre, Apresyan stated during a press
conference today.

He even knows what aspects of the country and its people will make it
possible to make it a centre for tourism. The rich historical-cultural
heritage, the Armenian people’s traditions, the legendary hospitality,
the first state to adopt Christianity, the connection with Noy legend
are the characteristics which, according to Apresyan, will allow
Armenia to become a tourism centre.

According to Apresyan, the global economic slowdown hasn’t affected
tourism in Armenia; in fact, there has been a notable increase. From
January to September of the current year, 422,807 tourists visited
Armenia, compared to 399,691 last year. That is, there was an increase
of 5.8% this year. There is also a 0.12% rise in internal tourism.

In response to the surprise by some as to how Armenia can register an
increase during a global crisis when there is a decline in the rest
of the world, Apresyan stated that these numbers can be considered
not an increase, but maintenance.

It is interesting to note that Armenia’s leaders, wishing to make
Armenia a tourism centre, consider everything possible to make the
sector more attractive but not to make it more affordable. That is,
however much we speak about making Armenia a tourism centre, all of us
know that the tourism prices in Jermuk and Tsakhkadzor are affordable
only for a wealthy few.

Tert.am asked Apresyan what the state has done in order to mitigate
the price policy of tourism centres. As always, this time, too,
the department head first noted that the country cannot interfere
with the private sector’s pricing policy and then acknowledged that
in case of changes in pricing policy, it is also possible to attract
internal tourists.

Apresyan said what the state has to do in this matter is to
promote an increase in demand and to influence the pricing policy
indirectly. To this end, they met various companies in the tourism
sector and discussed the possibility of offering more affordable and
competitive packages.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ "A suspected case of swine flu virus A/H1N1 infection
is registered in Armenia and currently the patient’s test sample
is sent to London for further examination," Chief Specialist of the
hygienic and epidemiological inspection of the ministry of health of
Armenia Liana Torosyan said.

She also reported that the patient who has been suspected in carrying
"swine flu" infection, is not a citizen of Armenia, and at this moment
it would be wrong to say that he is seek with "swine flu".

Liana Torosyan informed about the press conference of the Minister of
Health Harutyun Kushkyan tomorrow. Despite he called upon everybody
not to panic , people are already concerned about rumors of cases of
"swine flu" in Armenia, and actively purchase medical masks in Yerevan.

According to official figures, there has been no single case of "swine
flu" so far in Armenia. Nevertheless, in January 2010 the World Health
Organization will give Armenia a vaccine against swine flu.

It turns out that Armenia attracts tourists from many countries.

Moreover, new names are added to the list of countries each year.

Armenia, as a tourism centre, attracts tourists from Georgia and
those from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), said the
head of the Tourism Department at the Republic of Armenia Ministry
of Economy Mekhak Apresyan at a press conference today.

In recent years, according to the ministry representative, tourists
from Iran, countries from the European Union and the U.S. show an
interest in visiting Armenia.

"The geographical coverage of tourists visiting Armenia is expanding,"
Apresyan said and added that in the recent years, tourists from
Scandinavian countries and, in the past two years, from Turkey,
as well, have been visiting Armenia.

Obama, Sarkozy And Medvedev: True Minsk Group Co-Chairs?

OBAMA, SARKOZY AND MEDVEDEV: TRUE MINSK GROUP CO-CHAIRS?

Tert

Armenia

OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs are minor functionaries, while the true
co-chairs are the presidents of the United States, France and Russia,
who, quite possibly, even do not really know what Mr. Merzlyakov,
Fassier and Bradtke do during their visits to Baku and Yerevan, said
Azerbaijani political analyst Vafa Guluzade in an interview with
Azerbaijani news source Day.Az.

"This troika gets pretty good pay, they fly to Baku and Yerevan and
taste the Azerbaijani and Armenian cuisine," added the analyst.

In Guluzade’s opinion, OSCE Minsk Group’s co-chair countries have
concentrated all their efforts on the opening of the Armenian-Turkish
border. "Talks about the likelihood that Turkey will become co-chair
of the OSCE Minsk Group resumed against this background. All of
these talks have a single goal – minimize Azerbaijan’s discontent
with possible opening of Turkish-Armenian border."

"They will try to present Turkey’s becoming co-chair of the OSCE Minsk
Group to Azerbaijan as a significant progress in a just settlement
of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. But this is
ridiculous. Because, if countries like the United States and Russia
do not resolve different causes of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem,
Turkey has no chance to solve it either.

"Armenian leadership insists on opening of borders with Turkey against
its will and certainly not out of love for Turks, but because of a need
to address its own serious economic problems," concluded the analyst.
