NATURAL GAS IMPORTS AND CONSUMPTION VOLUMES DECLINE IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 23, NOYAN TAPAN. Natural gas imports into Armenia
fell by 27% in January-September 2009 on the same period of 2008 and
amounted to 1,248.1 million cubic meters. Sales of gas made 1,139.8
million cubic meters in the indicated period, declining by 29% as
compared with last year’s index.

The press service of ArmRusgazprom company reported that natural gas
consumption by the population fell by 2% in the first nine months
of 2009 on the same period of 2008 and totalled 400.6 million cubic
meters. There was also a considerable decline in gas consumption by
industry and energy sectors: consumption volumes made 180.04 million
cubic meters (57%) and 212.7 million cubic meters (95%), respectively.
