ArmInfo. At least three Armenian companies are preparing for IPO in
2010, Director General of NASDAQ OMX Armenia Armen Melikyan said in
an interview to ArmInfo.

The companies represent the IT, chemical and energy sectors.

No company is going to issue stock this year as IPO is not expedient
at the time of crisis: investors are careful and refrain from putting
money in stock. Besides, the Armenian public is yet poorly informed
of the advantages of one or another financial instrument. So, this
requires active efforts of all concerned parties.

Despite the crisis, Melikyan recommends potential emitters to consider
IPO strategies as after the crisis they may urgently need additional
investments. The global situation will change as falls are always
followed by rises.

As regards the current situation on the corporate bong market, Melikyan
said that the rise in the interest on alternative instruments, namely,
government bonds and bank deposits, has had a negative effect on
the corporate bonds issued so far. So, new issues will be possible
only after certain price revision on the bond market. Today, it is
dangerous to plan new issues as it is hard to predict how the market
will behave or to calculate the interest rate correctly. That’s why
many participants have adopted a wait-and-see position.
