Armenian politicians are about to start consultations on the settlement
of Armenian-Turkish relations, presidential press secretary Samvel
Farmanian said.

In his words, the chief of state has invited political party leaders
to the debate.

Armenia and Turkey posted preliminary protocols on the establishment
of diplomatic relations on August 31. The protocols will be discussed
prior to their signing and ratification.

Armenian political forces have diverse attitudes to the protocols.

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun, the opposition
party Heritage and, to a certain extent, the Armenian National Congress
of ex-president Levon Ter-Petrossian have raised objections.

Heritage demands that the Armenian premier must announce a referendum
on confidence in President Serzh Sargsyan.

Similar consultations are in progress in Turkey at the initiative of
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
