Every Friday the Government calls a press conference to present the
works done and to be done under the anti-crisis program.

Before the global financial-economic crisis the Ministry of Transport
and Communication of Armenia had undertaken a number of projects:
construction of the North-South highway and the Iran-Armenia railway,
as well as reconstruction of rural roads.

All the programs will be launched and completed in time, Minister of
Transport and Communication Gurgen Sargsyan told a press conference
today.

The Minister noted that the reconstruction of about 186 km roads
will be covered by the state budget. The rest of the programs will be
implemented with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank and the
World Bank. If everything goes right, the first stage of construction
of the North-South corridor will start in April-May, 2010.

Is it logical to construct the Iran-Armenia railway in case
the Armenian-Turkish border opens, at last? "It will become more
interesting from the economic point of view. It will make Armenia a
transit route for transportation of goods from India, China, and the
Persian Gulf to Europe," the Minister said.

The Minister informed that negotiations are underway with the
Development Bank of Japan. They expect to sign an agreement by yearend,
under which the Bank will provide $70-100 million credit for rural
roads reconstruction program.
