/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Within the framework of DigiTec Expo 2009 annual
IT forum, Microsoft representative office in Armenia is organizing
a function aimed at eliminating pirate discs, company’s General
Director Grigor Barseghyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. Any
person who will bring unlicensed disc may participate in function,
he said. In return, participants will receive discs containing the
trial version of Microsoft 7 software.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Turkish parliament will enter the new legislature
year to begin October 1st with a busy schedule. The issues high on
the agenda which have recently stirred heated debates will be brought
to parliament floor with the beginning of the new legislative year.

The government’s democratization initiative launched to address the
Kurdish issue which created tension with the opposition will be the
first issue to be discussed in the Parliament’s General Assembly. The
government announced earlier that they would make public the measures
included in the initiative at the General Assembly.

Another issue to be discussed on parliament floor is the recently
initialed protocols between Turkey and Armenia for the normalization
of relations and opening of border gates. The issue will be discussed
in the foreign relations committee first and later at the General
Assembly, reported Anatolian News Agency.

-Poland qualifying match will be refereed by Armenian coaches’ brigade
headed by UEFA 2nd category coach Knarik Grigoryan, FFA press service
reported.

Araksya Saribekyan and Liana Meliksetyan are appointed as arbiter
assistants.

The match is due on October 29 in Bosnia.

painter, RA Artists’ Union member Alec Alekyan’s exhibition titled
"Sun Land".

The artist exhibited 50 canvases created over the past 2 years. "In
my paintings, I try to portray sense of luck," he said.

Alec Alekyan was born in 1966 in Gyumri. He studied in Terlemezyan
Art College, faculty of painting. He 1992, Alekyan entered Yerevan
Artistic Theatrical Institute, faculty of decorative art. He has
participated in several international exhibitions.

On September 29, the award was granted by head of RA representation
at CE, Avet Adonts.

In his turn, the British politician expressed his readiness to further
contribute to bilateral collaboration strengthening, RA MFA press

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Four legion players have joined Hatis Armenian
female basketball team. They are expected to strengthen its plays
during European Cup qualification matches. Contract with Armenian
club was signed by Iva Serdar (Croatia), Bojana Vulic (Serbia),
fullbacks Julianne Viani (USA) and Julianne Viani (Jamaica).

Georgian basketball players Natia Abuladze and Natia Futkaladze are
also represented in Hatis.

Let’s note that European Cup female tournament matches kick off on
November 12. As a result of draw, Armenian team will be represented in
the same group together with Turkish Beshiktash, Vologda’s Chevakata
and Greece Atinaikos.

Thus, Hatis club’s female team will play 3 matches in Yerevan
and 3 matches abroad. Home matches are scheduled for November 17,
December 3 and December 17 against Chevakata, Atinaikos and Beshiktash
respectively.

All home matches will take place in Yerevan’s Dinamo stadium.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan participated
in Doing Business 2010 report discussion, organized by WB and RA
Government, governmental press service reported. Private sector and
community representatives participated in the discussion.

Upon greeting the guests, the Premier emphasized the importance
of business sector development in the country, adding that a work
group for Doing Business report ranking improvement was created by
presidential order. "Despite certain progress, serious works has to be
conducted towards legislative reforms introduction and administration
practice improvements," he said.

Sargsyan characterized 7-point increase in Armenia’s ranking as
unsatisfactory. " To resolve existing problems, we need to establish
government-private sector -public organizations collaboration,"
the Prime Minister noted.

The discussion focused on business environment issues, based on data
research results provided in Doing Business 2010 report.

According to the report, Armenia’s ranking rose by 7 points, moving
from 50th to 43rd position in 2009. The report covers 183 countries
of the world.

held in Akhisar, Turkey, on September 24-October 3, Armenian junior
chess team (under age 16) beat England’s players 3:1.

Armenian team winners were Hayk Vardanyan, Robert Aghasaryan and Tigran
S. Petrosyan. The only unsuccessful player was Samvel Ter-Sahakyan,
the youngest sportsmen, who suffered two consecutive defeats.

Let’s note that in the first three rounds, Armenian players competed
against Turkish team, holding victory in the first two matches and
making a draw in the last game. In the 4th and 5th rounds, Armenian
players fell behind Russian and Hungarian teams with minimal scores.

After 6 rounds, Armenia’s junior team gained 14.5 points, sharing the
4th-7th positions with Georgia, Turkey and Uzbekistan. Indian team,
with 17.5 points, tops tournament list. Russian and Azerbaijani teams
share 2nd-3rd positions with 16 points.

There are 22 teams participating in championship, with 6 representing
Turkey.

In the 7th round, Armenian chess players will play against Georgian
national team.

in Yerevan on September 29. The project, which will last 3 days,
was launched by USAID/CAPS in cooperation with American University’s
(AUA) Extension Department and Armenian Restaurant Association (ARA).

"The project aims at ensuring food security, as well as transferring
American specialists’ up-to-date knowledge to their Armenian
colleagues," CAPS Director Artak Kazaryan said, adding that all
restaurants in America possess such certificates.

At that he noted that program participants had been selected by
competition. Their total number is 20.

Training session will be followed by an exam scheduled for October
9. Successful participants will have be given the chance to further
their education and awarded international trainer’s certificate. This
is the third re-qualification program organized by CAPS.

Project covers 5 main spheres: fundamentals of food security, cross
pollution and allergens, personal hygiene, time and temperature,
decontamination and sanitation.

Virginia TEK Mahmood Khan, a leading Professor from Virginia
Polytechnic Institute, has been invited to Armenia to deliver the
course.

In April last year, Mahmood Khan amended several university curricula,
assisted in the introduction of new training methods, as well as
delivered courses on food security and marketing for representatives
of the sphere in Armenia. Similar courses are also scheduled for
April next year.

President Hrachya Rostomyan will visit Athens on the invitation
of FIBA (International Basketball Association) Europe Head George
Vasilakopulos. According to FBA press service, the meeting will focus
on a number of issues including basketball development in Armenia.

In 2008, International Basketball Association started to develop a
special program for basketball development in Armenia.
