The Chairperson of the RA National Assembly Standing Committee on
European Integration Affairs Naira Zohrabian received the Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Armenia Alexander
Bozhko on August 11.

According to the RA National Assembly PR Department, issues related
to European integration considered a foreign policy priority by
both states, as well as issues of cooperation of the EU’s Eastern
Partnership Program member states were discussed at the meeting.

Ms. Zohrabian and Ambassador Bozhko attached special importance to the
promotion of the bilateral relations at various levels, the development
of parliamentary displomacy, and the necessity to exchange experience
in legislative and other fields.

Speaking about the position adopted by Ukraine regarding some issues
within the framework of the GUAM Organization, Ms. Zohrabian said
that they give a cause for concern, she expressed a hope that Ukraine
will display a much more balanced position with respect to issues
prioritized by Armenia. N. Zohrabian expressed conviction that any
problem and issue can be solved through mutual discussions. She
noted that the interparliamentary cooperation memorandum signed
in 2005 between the RA National Assembly and the Supreme Rada of
Ukraine does not serve its purpose. She pointed out the necessity of
taking steps to implement the memorandum provisions, in particular,
those on cooperation of the two countries’ parliamentary delegations
in international organizations. The interlocutors underlined the
importance of parliamentary displomacy for overcoming numerous
problems, noting that it is necessary to take more practical steps
in this field.

Naira Zohrabian and Alexander Bozhko were unanimous in their opinion
that despite the existence of some problems, both countries give
priority to such values, around which the further cooperation can
develop.
