Baku – APA. The U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations approved the
Fiscal Year (FY) 2010 Department of State, Foreign Operations and
Related Programs Appropriations Bill by a vote of 29 to 1.

APA reports quoting Panarmenian.net as saying that the Bill provides
$30 million for Armenia, which is $18 million less than the FY 2009
level. The Senate bill also mirrored the Administrationâ??s
request with respect to assistance to Azerbaijan, calling for $22
million. There were no appropriations for separatist regime of Nagorno
Karabakh. A military parity is expected to be maintained in the
appropriations for Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Bill will be sent to
the President to be signed into law after approval by House of
Representatives and Senate.

Executive Director of the Armenian Assembly of America Bryan Ardouny
said they would continue to work with both the Senate and House to
ensure the best possible outcome for Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh.
