ARMENIA FM VISITED BUCHAREST

Within the framework of the working visit to Bucharest, the Foreign
Minister of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, had a meeting with his Romanain
counterpart Cristian Diaconescu.

Issues on the agenda included the development of bilateral relations,
the Armenia-EU relations, regional and international questions.

The two Foreign Ministers discussed the opportunities of expanding
cooperation in the fields of economy, education and culture.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Romania talked about the process
of cooperation between Armenia and the European Union and the bilateral
cooperation within that framework. In this regard Minister Nalbandian
attached importance to the signing of a free trade zone agreement
with the European Union and the simplification of the visa regime
with EU countries.

Ministers Nalbandian and Diaconescu exchanged views on issues of
ensuring security in Europe.

Edward Nalbandian presented to his Romanian counterpart the latest
developments in the negotiations on the Karabakh conflict settlement
and Armenia’s efforts towards normalization of relations with Turkey.

Minister Diaconescu presented the current state and prospects of the
Romanian-Moldovan relations, as well as his country’s stance on the
processes taking place inside the European Union.

The interlocutors dwelt on a number of regional and international
issues.

The meeting of the Mi nisters was followed by a joint press conference.

The Armenian Foreign Minister visited the Armenian Church of Bucharest,
where he met representatives of the Armenian community.
