/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Despite the complicated international situation
and the world economic crisis, RF Federal Security Service’s
border guards continue performing their tasks on Armenian-Iranian
and Armenian-Turkish borders in full scale, lieutenant general
Sergey Bondarev, Head of RF FSB’s Administration in Armenia,
told today news conference devoted to the Day of Frontier Defense
Guards. "In cooperation with Armenian law enforcement agencies, we
take all measures towards disclosing and preventing transboundary
smuggling. Since the start of 2009, 99 lawbreakers have been arrested
on the borderline. Illegal attempts of crossing border have increased
by 12% in comparison with the same period of 2008. Frontier guards
confiscated items with a total price of 494,7 Rubles (not including
the 21 pieces of cold weapon)," the lieutenant general said.

According to Mr. Bondarev, serious attention is paid to preventing
transboundary abaction. "The last incident of abaction was recorded
in 2004. Besides, we have found inaccuracies in the documents of 1023
individuals. 499 individuals were denied permission to cross border,"
the RF official said. Summing up the results, Bondarev assured
participants that Frontier Administration is capable of performing
all its tasks. "Armenians do not have to worry. RA state border will
be guarded as properly as before."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
