New sudden rise in exchange rate of dollar not expected, deputy
minister of finance says

YEREVAN, MARCH 10, NOYAN TAPAN. "The current exchange rate of the dram
is economically substantiated and I do not think that there will be a
new sudden rise in the exchange rate of the dollar. This is not
economically substantiated, " the RA deputy minister of finance Vardan
Aramian stated at the March 9 debate.

The economist Tatul Manaserian expressed an opinion that the state has
enough resources to control the situation. "In my opinion, the crisis
is not only a financial but also a system one, from which the countries
will get out with new models being formed. In case of these models, the
currencies cannot "float" or "not float" on their own, that is, the
governments will intervene," T. Manaserian noted.

According to the member of the parliamentary "ARF" faction Artsvik
Minasian, no one can forecast definitely what changes may occur to the
dollar.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
