Members of the Heritage Party were not seen on the rostrum during
a March 1 rally organised by the main opposition Armenian National
Congress (HAK).

Heritage Leader Armen Martirosyan says their party members were present
at yesterday’s rally, but as usual "they were among the public."

With regard to the HAK’s decision to take a temporary "timeout,"
the leader of the parliamentary opposition said: "Each political
force is free to decide its strategy and make calculations."

Armen Martirosyan also noted that the Heritage and the HAK will name
a joint candidate for the coming election to the city mayor. They
haven’t made a final decision yet as the discussions with the HAK
are still underway.

Asked what he thinks of the Republicans’ decision to nominate the
district head of Kentron commune, Gagik Beglaryan, for the mayor,
the Heritage leader said: "The authorities’ decision signals that
the upcoming election will hardly differ from the previous ones."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
