YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 10, NOYAN TAPAN. Though the RA Foreign Ministry
fulfilled many decisions in 2008, there are some projects to be
fulfilled in the current year. In particular, as Minister Edward
Nalbandian said in his annual statement presented to RA Prime Minister
Tigran Sargsian on February 10, the terms of working out the bill
On Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Law On Diplomatic Service
have been moved to 2009.

According to the Minister, the draft decision On Making Amendment to
the Land Code regarding diplomatic representations’ properties has
been returned for revision and will be also introduced in the first
quarter of the year.

It was mentioned that the RA Foreign Policy Conception envisaged by
the RA National Security Strategy provisions is at the elaboration
stage and will be submitted to the government by March 15.

E. Nalbandian said that in 2008 the Foreign Ministry continued its
political-diplomatic efforts aimed at further strengthening foreign
security, ensuring favorable external conditions and guarantees for
country’s development, deepening country’s involvement in world
and regional processes, steps aimed at further development and
strengthening of bilateral and many-sided relations with friendly
and partner countries, deepening active involvement in international
organizations.

T. Sargsian noted that a political document should be put in
circulation to present the main answers to the questions often voiced
at various international conferences. "Many state servants, who are
specialists of different spheres and are far from politics, often
find themselves in an awkward position at international conferences,
when questions regarding Nagorno Karabakh settlement are voiced,"
the Prime Minister said adding that a document presenting Armenia’s
official views should be sent to the Ministries and departments for
officials of various levels to be aware of answers to be given to
such questions. E. Nalbandian said that such a document has been
already sent to all departments.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
