True To His Word: Vic Demolishes Arce

Victo Darchinyan retains the WBC, WBA and IBF 115-pound belts by
whipping Jorge Arce in 11 rounds.

Vic Darchiyan (32-1-1, 26 KOs) retained the WBC, WBA, and IBF
115-pound titles after a doctor stopped his fight with Jorge Arce
(51-5-1, 39 KOs) after 11 rounds. The championship bout was fought
Saturday ight at the Honda Center in Anaheim and shown on Showtime.

Arce had a severe cut over his right eye, cuts under both eyes and a
some type of laceration in the back of head that bled much of the
fight. Darchiyan took control early as the cruching southpaw scored
with upper cuts to the head when Arce ducked and hard left hands
through his defense. Arce took several hard punches, but broke down
bit by bit . He was finally ruined in the 11th when Darchiyan became
his nickname "Raging Bull." He stalked and pounded Arce all over the
ring, opening a nasty cut over his right eye. Arce barely made the
bell, but when ringside Dr. Paul Wallace took one look in his corner,
he stopped the bout.

Arce, a two-time world champion from Los Mochis, Mexico, stunned
Darchiyan with a left hook in the third, the only time the Armenian
backed up.
