Yerevan (Yerkir) – Organized by the ARF Supreme Body of Armenia,
an event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of renowned political and
military figure of the first Armenian republic Aram Manukian’s death
was held on January 28.

Many ARF members joined with Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian, National
Assembly deputy speaker Hrayr Karapetian and a group of MPs and
ministers paid a visit to Manukian’s grave. The prime minister and
the deputy parliament speaker delivered speeches followed by Artashes
Shahbazian.

"Aram Manukian was an ARF member but also a national and state
figure. He was one of the founders of the first republic. Under the
ARF party flag, he was acting in the name of national interest and
ideas and for the Armenian nation," Shahbazian said.

The prime minister said that anyone should be proud of Aram
Manukian. "We often lack figures like him, with firm will and
organizational talents," Sargsyan said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
