AMERICAN ARMENIAN ASSEMBLY SUPPORTS SIGNING OF DECLARATION ON KARABAKH

The American Armenian Assembly supports signing of the declaration
on basic principles of settlement in Nagorno Karabakh issue by the
Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The organization stresses the importance of the paragraph in the
declaration about the peaceful resolution of the problem.
"On the background of war, initiated in Georgia in August, and the
overall economic instability the intensification of the process on
the resolution of the Karabakh conflict by the Armenian President is
an important progress", says the statement of the organization.
According to the authors of the declaration, "the first reaction of
Azerbaijan after initiation of war in South Ossetia was the resumption
of the military actions against Karabakh, yet the Moscow declaration
has put an end to the tough position of Azerbaijan and its bellicose
rhetorics".
