ARDSHININVESTBANK ANEW OPENED REPAIRED BRANCH IN GORIS

ArmInfo. Ardshininvestbank anew opened a repaired branch "Goris" in
the town of Goris, equipped with updated technologies, necessary for
a full work, and ready to serve the clients in a modern hall. This
branch, the opening of which was held on October 10, is the fourth
subdivision of the bank in Syunik region. Presently, Ardshininvestbank
takes the second place in the banking system of Armenia by the number
of active branches – 55 branches, 13 of which are in Yerevan, 36 –
in the regions and 6 – in Nagorno Karabakh.

The bank also has a representation in Paris. Today, 47% of the bank
branches have been repaired and meet the up-to-date requirements.

According to the data of Ardshininvestbank, upon the results of 9
months, 2008, all the financial indicators of the bank have shown
growth. So, the bank’s assets grew by 27% to 119.2 bln drams,
the liabilities – by 28,2% to 94.5 bln drams, the total capital –
by 22,3% to 22.7 bln drams. At present, the bank serves 160,000
clients, including big companies and representatives of small and
middle-size business, as well as natural persons. From the beginning
of the year to September inclusively, the volume of time deposits of
natural persons also grew by 50,2%v to 22 bln drams. Ardshininvestbank
keeps on crediting the industrial sector, the areas of trade and
construction, dues to which the bank increased the credit portfolio
over 9 months by 40,4% to 76.9 bln drams by September 30, 2008. 39,1%
fell on the consumers credits in the bank’s credit portfolio. Essential
growth of the bank’s credit assets (to 79.8 bln drams by September 30)
was assured at the cost of increase of the forward resource base and
growth of the capital.

Moreover, growth of the capital happened, mainly, at the cost of
increase of the net profit over 9 months to 4.1 bln drams, that
exceeded the indicator of the similar period, 2007, by 37,2%.

Over 9 months, 2008, the volume of the bank-attracted funds from
the international financial organizations and banks made up 9.3 bln
drams. The number of the bank-issued plastic cards by September 30 grew
to 41656. 16 automated teller machines were installed over 9 months,
thus totaling 41, as well as 51 new POS-terminals – to 240. As of July
1, 2008, Ardshininvestbank had 11 shareholders (7 – natural persons
and 4 legal persons), among which the Investment Financial Corporation
""Region" – 86,82% and the International Financial Corporation – 10%
are big shareholders.

ARMENIAN PRESIDENT CONGRATULATES THE KNOWN DUDUK PLAYER JIVAN GASPARYAN ON HIS 80TH ANNIVERSARY

known duduk player Jivan Gasparyan on his 80th anniversary.

As press-service of the president told ArmInfo, the president highly
appreciated Gasparyan’s contribution in development and popularization

ARMENTEL NOT CONCERNED ABOUT COMING OF THIRD MOBILE OPERATOR TO ARMENIAN MARKET

YEREVAN, October 13. /ARKA/. ArmenTel telecommunication company is
not concerned about the coming of the third mobile operator to the
Armenian market, General Director of ArmenTel (Beeline brand) Neycho
Velichkov told journalists.

On October 7 Armenia’s Tender Commission announced Orange company
(main brand of France Telecom operator) winner in the tender on
the third mobile operator in the country. Orange had submitted the
highest bid for a GSM license for a total of 51.5mln euros. As per
the existing procedure, the company is to receive the final license
by December 15 this year.

Velichkov gave a positive opinion about the results of the tender in
terms of the price paid by France Telecom for the license and stressed
the importance of such serious player’s coming to the Armenian market.

ArmenTel will make every effort to implement its plans and ensure
high results next year, Velichkov said.

"Much will depend on aggressiveness of France Telecom’s coming to the
Armenian market, but we plan to maintain the pace we are developing
at now and next year to be if not the main, then a leader for our
subscribers and provide them with the entire range of services,"
Velichkov said. He said that the company does not fear the competitions
and has always been following the fair market rules.

Velich kov said it is difficult to say now how clients will be
distributed between three operators next year.

Currently two companies operate on Armenian mobile communications
market – ArmenTel fully owned by VimpleCom Russian company and
Vivcacell with its control stock belonging to Russian MTS. -0–

On the occasion of the 70th jubilee of the State Russian Dramatic
Theatre after Alexander Spendiaryan, President of Armenia Serzh
Sargsyan signed a decree on granting the title of the Honored Artist
of the Republic of Armenia to actors of the Stanislavski Theater Ira
Harutyunyan and Arman Ghazaryan for the development of theatric art
and remarkable contribution to the development of Armenian-Russian
cultural ties.

COMMISSION FORMED TO RECONSIDER THE DEFENSE STRATEGY O ARMENIA

The first sitting of the interagency commission to reconsider the
Defense Strategy of the Republic of Armenia was held at the President’s
Office today, chaired by Secretary of the National Security Council
Arthur Baghdasaryan. Presenting the mission of the commission,
Mr. Baghdasaryan noted that the necessity to reconsider the strategy
of defense reforms derives from the National Security Strategy. It
envisages the preparation of a whole package of reforms and is under
the direct control of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

"Deriving from the importance of working out the document on
assessment of the security environment and threats, we should be able
to elaborate a document and a program of actions and arrangements that
will correspond to the contemporary global and regional challenges,"
Arthur Baghdasaryan noted.

Defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan later presented the main
directions of reformation of the Defense Strategy of the Republic of
Armenia and the methodology of the work. Participants of the sitting
took decisions connected with the organization of the work and fixed
the exact terms of action.

AMBASSADOR BADALYAN HAD A MEETING WITH THE MAYOR OF ASHGABAT

Armenia’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan Vladimir Badalyan had a meeting
with the Mayor of Ashgabat Azat Bilishov.

The Mayor presented the urban development programs implemented in
Ashgabat.

For his part, Ambassador Badalyan noted that great urban development
programs have been accomplished in Yerevan over the past few years and
noted that what’s being done in Ashgabad today deserves appreciation.

Valdimir Badalyan informed that the Armenian side is preparing to
start the construction of the Armenian Embassy in Ashgabat. He added
that he spoke about the issue during his meeting with the President of
Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov and got the latter’s approval.

The parties exchanged views on the construction of a cultural-trade
center in Ashgabad and the development of cooperation between the
two capitals.

NALBANDIAN WINS THE STOCKHOLM OPEN

Argentinean Armenian tennis player David Nalbandian gained a 6-2,
5-7, 6-3 win over local favorite Robin Soderling in the Stockholm
Open final.

Nalbandian earned his second win of the season and ninth career
victory. It was also the first singles victory by an Argentine in
the 40-year history of the tournament.

Nalbandian next will head to Spain to begin his defense of his Madrid
Masters title.

President of the "Dial Net Service" NGO, nonpartisan Ashot Hovhannisyan
has withdrawn from the race for Dilijan Mayor, reports Chairman of
Precinct 41 (seat in Ijevan) Smbat Gasparian.

Remind that Dilijan’s ex mayor Republican Jora Sahabalian had withdrawn
his run for the post on October 1.

The incumbent Mayor, head of the regional structure of the Republican
Party of Armenia (HHK) Armen Santrosyan, is presently the only
candidate running for the post.
