COMMUNITY HEAD ELECTIONS SCHEDULED IN 5 TOWNS OF GEGHARKUNIK REGION ON OCTOBER 26

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 20, NOYAN TAPAN. Local self-government elections
are scheduled in the communities of the Gegharkunik region on October
26, including community head elections in the towns of Gavar, Sevan,
Martuni, Chambarak, and Vardenis.

As Noyan Tapan correspondent was informed by Tatev Ohanian,
the Spokesperson of the RA Central Electoral Commission, the only
candidate registered for Gavar Mayor’s elections is current Mayor,
member of the United Labor Party Gurgen Martirosian.

Current Sevan Mayor, RPA member Gevorg Malkhasian and non-partisan
Hrachik Karapetian contiue the election campaign for Sevan Mayor’s
elections.

Candidate for Mayor’s post, non-partisan Vardges Kocharian withdrew
his candidature in the established term.

Three out of four registered candidates for Mayor’s elections
of Martuni continue the election campaign. They are: RPA members,
current Mayor Bagrat Haroutiunian, Rashid Hakobian, and non-partisan
Garik Hakobian. Orinats Yerkir (Country of Law) party member Kamo
Gasparian has withdrawn his candidature.

Current Chambarak Mayor, non-partisan Yurik Avalian and RPA member
Rita Hovhannisian out of three candidates for Mayor’s elections in
Chambarak continue the election campaign. RPA member Kochar Kocharian
has withdrawn his candidature.

All five registered candidates, RPA members, current Vardenis
Mayor Vardan Barseghian, Vardan Yeranosian, Volodya Khloyan,
National-Democratic Union member Gevorg Bokhian, and non-partisan
Samvel Martirosian will run for the elections of Vardenis Mayor.
