The candidate

Born in Beirut, Agop Evereklian came to Canada with his parents 32
years ago, at age 16. Protocol Chief active throughout Canada wherever
international conferences are held, Mr. Evereklian has an academic
background in political science and business administration.

Ex-chief organizer of the Liberal Party of Canada in Laval-Les les
riding and (its predecessors) for the past 20 years, the father of four
who has lived in Sainte-Dorothee since 1987 joined the Conservative
Party in 2007. Multi-lingual, he speaks English, French, Armenian,
Arabic, and Turkish.

What are the issues in the riding?

Public security is of major concern for Agop Evereklian, calling to
mind the cases of home invasions that have occurred in the riding in
the past few years. To ensure civil protection, he proposes greater
police presence in the streets of Laval and the beefing up of laws
and the strengthening of the penal system to deter law breakers
and prevent criminals from re-offending. He is also in favour of a
branching out for Laval through twinning projects that would link
the region with other urban centres in other parts of the world,
thus promoting the city’s economic, social, and cultural development.
