ANOTHER DEFEAT: NEXT MATCH WITH MOLDAVIANS

On August 19 in Palanga Lithuania, in the first tour friendly match
of Junior Football League Armenian National team (below 17 years)
lost 0:3 to Russians.

The first half of the match ended in draw, but during the second half
Russians recorded victory over our junior team. In another match of
the first group(where actually Armenia is included), the national
junior team of Moldova won the game by beating 5:1 the second team of
Lithuania. By the way, the team of Lithuania could take part in this
competition only because of the fact that the Georgian team refused
to participate in the Junior Football League.

Note that the matches of the second will take place today: our team
is playing with national team of Moldova.

INDEFINITE COOPERATION BETWEEN ARMENIAN HABITAT AND CHURCH

Since 2000 "Armenian Habitat" charitable non governmental organization
implements a project of reconstructing houses providing long term
loans to the inhabitants with 0%. Currently the organization is
renamed "Fuller’s Housing Center" as once being a branch of "Habitat
for Humanity" international organization they were forced to provide
those loans with percentages.

"Those who have some benefits from this program are people who are
not rich," said Ashot Eghiazaryan, the director of the NGO. Hence
increasing any percentages to the loans people could not repay
them back.

The NGO started cooperation with Armenian Church. Few houses have
been reconstructed with the cooperation of the NGO and the church,
but at the moment this cooperation is indefinite, says the director
of the organization, and church demands placing special billboards
in front of the reconstructed to publicize that the project has been
supported by church.

According to representative from the church the cooperation between the
organization and church has continuous nature but the representatives
of the organization say another thing.

THE TRANSIT RAILWAY BRIDGE WILL BE RECOVERED IN 1-2 WEEKS

The transit railway bridge, which was bombarded in August 16, is being
recovered in Georgia for soon transportation of cargos. The transit
railway bridge has not been used for a long time and now it s in a
bad situation.

The Press serving of the "South Caucasian railway" informs that 57
wagons of bread-stuff are waiting in the territory of Georgia to
left for Armenia. 12 colleagues of the "South Caucasian railway"
left for Georgia to take part in the reconstruction works of the
bridge. According to the got information about 1-2 weeks will be
required for recovering the bombarded bridge.

THE CITIZEN OF NKR WAS RETURNED TO HIS MOTHERLAND

By the support of the representatives of the Red Cross international
committee the Azerbaijani side returned Hrant Gabrielyan to the NKR
authorities near the Qarvend village (Akhdam region). To remind, Hrant
Gabrielyan lost his way and appeared in the Azeri side in May 8. The
authorities of Azeri had broken the principles of Jniev conventions
and didn’t inform the international structures that Gabrielyan is in
the Azeri side. "Though our committee turned to the Azeri side for
many times, they didn’t want to have communications with us. In such
cases the authorities of NKR, by all means, informs about it both the
representatives of Azeri and International Committee of Red Cross",
the committee of NKR noted. To remind, in August 11 the authorities
of Azeri confessed that the citizen of NKR was in Azeri. In the result
of negotiations they agreed to return Gabrielyan to his Motherland.

GERMANY INSISTS ON ORGANIZING A CONGRESS FOR STABILITY IN GEORGIA AND IN THE REGION

The Press Secretary of the Germany Government Tomas Steg announced
that Germany will stand for organizing a congress for stability in the
region in which the countries of European Union and the neighbors of
Georgia will take part. According to him the congress will be passed
under the slogan "Reconstruction and stability in Georgia and in the
region". The congress will take place in France which is the President
of the European Union now. After the meeting with the President of
Georgia Michail Saakashvili the Canceller of Germany Angela Merkel
said that European Union must deepen its ties with Georgia, Armenia,
Azeri and Turkey.

THE RA DEFENSE MINISTER GREETED THE PARTICIPANTS OF "RUBEZH 2008"

The third and fourth phases of "Rubezh 2008" were started in the
military school after H. Bakhramyan. The RA Minister of Defense Seyran
Ohanyan was present in it. The Press Office of the RA Defense Ministry
informs that he greeted and congratulated the participants of the
military exercises. The Minister noted that the aim of the military
exercises was to unite the forces to answer the possible aggression
of enemies. He also stressed that the first and second phases of the
exercises had military-political meaning. After the solemn ceremony of
the opening there were hearings about the preparing works of closing.

To remind, this year in October military games will be held in which
the general military department will participate.

THE ARMENIAN OLYMPICS RETURNED FROM BEIJING

In August 19 thousands of fans of sport welcomed the Armenian
sportsmen in the "Zvartnots" airport of Yerevan. Among them were
wrestlers of Geeco-Roman style Roman Amoyan (55 kg), Yuri Patrikeev,
weightlifters Tigran G. Martirosyan (69 kg), Gevorg Davtyan (77 kg)
and Tigra V. Martirosyan (85 kg). All of them won bronze medals in
the 29th summer Olympic Games.

The President of the National Olympic Committee Gagik Tsarukyan gave
them laurel wreaths and congratulated the coaches.

The RA vice Minister of Sport and Youth Xachik Asrya also greeted
the sportsmen.

Weightlifter Tigran V. Martirosyan thanked the Armenian Government, the
heads of all the sport organizations and the coaches in the name of the
sportsmen and assured that they will bring new wins to the Motherland.

TURKISH FANS OF SPORT ASK TO OPEN THE ARMENIAN – TURKISH BORDER IN ONE DAY

A group of Turkish young men asked the President of Turkey Abdullah
Gul to open the Igdir-Yerevan railway for a day. Mediamax agency
informs that the fans asked it to be able left for Yerevan to watch
the football match between Armenia and Turkey in September 6.

The fans, who want to support their national collective, announced
that the most profitable way to leave for Armenia is the railway.

At the same time the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador
of Turkey to Azeri Hulusy Kilik announced in Baku that Turkey will
not open its border with Armenia until the regional completeness of
Azeri is restored.

CAREFUL POLICY OF ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY REGARDING SOUTH OSSETIAN CONFLICT IS THE ONLY CORRECT ONE, ARMENIAN POLITICAL EXPERT THINKS

ArmInfo. Careful policy of Armenian Foreign Ministry regarding South
Ossetian conflict is the only correct one, Armenian political expert,
director of "Kavkaz" institute Aleksandr Iskandaryan told ArmInfo
correspondent.

He recalled that Iran with Iranian-American relations is on one side
of Armenia and Georgia with Russian-Georgian relations is on the other
side. At the same time Russia as well as America are very important
for Armenia just the same way as Georgia and Iran, since de-facto
they are the only neighbours of Armenia. For this reason it would
be very dangerous to make sharp steps and hold an active policy in
connection with the South Ossetian conflict.

HEAD OF RADIO LIBERTY YEREVAN OFFICE BEATEN UP

ArmInfo. Acting director of Radio Liberty Yerevan office Hrach
Melkumyan was beaten up, as Radio Liberty reported he was attacked
on 18 August evening in the centre of Yerevan.

Melkumyan connects the attack with his professional activity. Director
of Radio Liberty Jeff Goodwin thinks the incident was not an accidental
one and hopes Armenian authorities will investigate it in details.

As Armenian police reported, yesterday Hrach Melkumyan applied to the
law-enforcement agencies with a relevant statement and investigation
is underway.
