BIGGEST RETAILER OF ARMENIA STAR PENETRATES REGIONS

Today, the biggest retailer of Armenia, STAR Company, opened its
first regional supermarket in Hrazdan on a road leading to the resort town
of Tsakhkadzor.
During the solemn opening ceremony, the Executive Director of STAR
Vahan Kerobyan said that this is the 11th supermarket of the network
with area of 1800 sq m. Thus, according to the multi-format concept
of STAR, it enters the number of 3 hypermarkets. He also said that
12-13 thsd units of goods have been represented in Hrazdan supermarket,
including 80% of foodstuffs and 20% – household goods. ‘Here, we shall
adhere to the same strategy of business development, which we apply
in Yerevan, including the price policy acceptable for the citizens
and holding of different actions’, V. Kerobyan said ad added that
this supermarket has been equipped state-of-the-art. He emphasized
that the town of Hrazdan has been selected for the reasons that is
situated not far from the capital and has a solvent population.
For his part, Mayor of Hrazdan Aram Danielyan emphasized the important
role of STAR supermarket in development of a retail business. He
said that before opening of the STAR supermarket, majority of Hrazdan
population (65,000 people) preferred to carry shopping In different
supermarkets, while the picture will cardinally change with coming of
the STAR. ‘This supermarket, being the first in its kind in Hrazdan,
is attractive from the viewpoint of the widest range of goods,
the level of service and reasonable prices. All this is the best
solution for the clients, from the viewpoint of time saving as well’,
the mayor emphasized and expressed confidence that not only Hrazdan
residents but also the tourists of Tsakhkadzor will become permanent
clients of the supermarket.
For his part, Director of the Logistic Center of STAR Grigoriy
Nazaryan said that in view of opening of Hrazdan supermarket, the
Company replenished its vehicle fleet with new lorries to assure
operative carriage and high quality of the proposed goods.
Senior banker of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
(EBRD), owning 28,3% of the block of stock of STAR, Artashes Tonoyan
emphasized the important role of STAR in formation of a retail business
culture in the country, as regards cooperation with partners, suppliers
and clients as well. "It is also important that STAR is the first
to spread this culture over the whole country, wasting no time and
using the up-to-date European standards and approaches>, he emphasized.
