Armenian, Russian Foreign Ministers meet in Moscow

On May 30 RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with his
Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. Following the face-to-face meeting
the consultations continued in an enlarged format.

Issues related to the deepening and reinforcement of Armenian-Russian
relations were discussed.

The parties expressed appreciation for the allied relations and
strategic partnership between the two countries. The sharp growth of
cooperation in the economic, cultural and a number of other spheres was
noted. Minister Nalbandian underlined that our special strategic
partnership with Russia will continue reinforcing in all directions,
based on the traditional ties between our peoples.

Reference was made to the Armenian-Russian cooperation on the
international arena, the joint work within the Commonwealth of
Independent States and the Collective Security Treaty Organization and
coordination of positions and views within international organizations.

The interlocutors discussed the process of settlement of the Karabakh
issue. Minister Nalbandian reconfirmed Armenia’s commitment to solving
the issue through negotiations and continuing the talks based on the
proposals presented by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

The parties turned to issues of security and stability in the South
Caucasus.

The meeting was followed by a joint press conference, during which the
Ministers presented the framework of the issues discussed and the
results of negotiations and responded to the journalists’ questions.

Later an official dinner was served in honor of RA Foreign Minister
Edward Nalbandian.

Today Minister Nalbandian will continue the meetings in Moscow.
