ENCOURAGEMENT OF COOPERATION OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS WILL PROMOTE DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENCE, ARMENIAN PRESIDENT SAYS

YEREVAN, APRIL 28, NOYAN TAPAN. It is time for the RA National
Academy of Sciences (NAS) to address the problem of introducing the
internationally recognized systems of qualification and objective
assessment of scientists, the Armenian president Serge Sargsian stated
at the April 25 annual meeting of the RA NAS.
Besides, in his opinion, it is necessary to contribute to the
integration of science and education, which also requires more
active work with higher educational institutions. According to
S. Sargsian, one of the government tasks is to promote cooperation
of the public and private sectors. He expressed confidence that it
is the most important direction of science development as well. He
indicated commercialization of scientific product and offering it
both in domestic and international markets as another important
task. "Unless clear and tangible steps are taken in this direction,
the link between science and production will be finally broken, and
our scientific world will shrink into itself and inevitably lose its
attractiveness," the president said.
