Chief Master of mason loge of France ‘Great East’ called on head of
European Commission to enter Armenian Genocide recognition issue in
agenda: ‘Zaman’ Turkish newspaper

Jean-Michel Quillardet said during the event in Paris, dedicated to the
day of 1915 Armenian Genocide, that he is an Armenian and promised to
do his best to assist in the international recognition of the Armenian
Genocide, "Zaman" Turkish newspaper writes.

The source reports that Jean-Michel Quillardet condemned in his speech
the official position of Ankara, according to the which the political
figures should not be engaged in political issues. "If necessary, the
political figures may take decisions on historical issues as well",
J.-M. Quillardet said and promised to make all the efforts for the
draft law on the criminal liability for denial of the Genocide, adopted
by the Lower House of France in 2006, to be approved by the Senate.
