HOLY LITURGY CELEBRATED IN MOTHER SEE OF HOLY ETCHMIADZIN ON APRIL 24 – ARMENIAN GENOCIDE COMMEMORATION DAY

YEREVAN, APRIL 24, NOYAN TAPAN. On April 24 – the Armenian Genocide
Commemoration Day, His Holiness Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin
II accompanied by monks of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin visited
the Tsitsernakaberd Complex dedicated to the memory of the victims
of the Armenian Genocide.
His Holiness and the Armenian president Serge Sargsian laid wreaths
at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex, after which a service for
the peace of the souls of the Genocide victims was held by Karekin
II at the eternal fire.
The ceremony was attended by the speaker of the RA National Assembly
Tigran Torosian, the prime minister Tigran Sargsian, National Assembly
deputies, government members and statesmen.
NT was informed by the press service of the Mother See of Holy
Etchmiadzin that a holy liturgy was celebrated in the Mother See on
the same day.
Following the holy liturgy, a service for the repose of the dead was
held by Catholicos of All Armenians at the Khachkar of Prayer and
Oath near the Mother Cathedral.
The Papal Nuncio in Transcaucasia, Archishop Claudio Gujerotti took
part in the ceremonies.
