USAID EXPERT CALLS ON SOUTH CAUCASUS WATER MANAGEMENT AUTHORITIES TO COORDINATE ACTIVITIES

ARKA
April 17, 2008

YEREVAN, April 17. /ARKA/. The South Caucasus water management bodies
should coordinate their activities, said USAID Water Management
Program Head Inessa Gabayan.

Water bodies in the region are being observed at present, and USAID
has provided Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia with necessary equipment
for the research, according to Gabayan.

She pointed out that Azerbaijan which is lower in altitude than Armenia
always complains that the latter pollutes water resources. Gabayan
called it a political speculation.

The purpose of the USAID Management Program is to strengthen regional
cooperation in water management, she reported.

"Our objective was to contribute to institutional development of the
water management authorities and coordinate water quality monitoring
in the region," Gabayan said.

The program will be completed on May 2, 2008.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
